AURORA's adoption program in Latvia is stable and dependable, and our families have been assigned children who are have been very satisfactory to them. Our families have been very pleased with their experience in Latvia, as well as the warmth and attentiveness of our in-country coordinators. There are numerous orphanages in Latvia with Caucasian children in need of good homes and loving families. Families may adopt 2 children at one time.
Available Children
Children of either gender are available for adoption. A Latvian orphan is available to be adopted by a U.S. family after the child is 6 months old. The orphanages have children of all ages including infants, though there are not as many infants as there are children aged 1 year and older. Children are usually blond haired and blue eyed, occasionally a child will have brown hair and blue eyes; some children do have light brown eyes.
Requirements
Married couples accepted.
Singles living a traditional, heterosexual lifestyle are also accepted.
Age requirement of minimum 25 years old, if over the age of 55 will be considered on an individual basis.
Families may already have children currently living in the home.
Adoption Process
The children are cared for in orphanages while waiting to be adopted. The adoption process begins by the submission of your dossier to Latvia. Referral of a child will be approximately 6 to 24 months later. The wait for an assignment depends on the age of the child you wish to adopt. Older children are more available, and will be assigned more quickly than a younger child. You will travel approximately 4 to 12 weeks after assignment. Two trips are required. The first trip is for approximately 3 days in order to meet your child. The second trip is made approximately 30 days later to finalize the adoption and complete the immigration process. This second trip is for approximately 7 days.
The Latvia program fees are based on a sliding scale, according to the age of the child being adopted. Fees will include escort, interpreter, transportation and coordination fees. Please contact AURORA for more information.
The fees for adopting a child with special needs will be decreased
